WATSON FARM MACHINERY was one of the first companies in Australia to introduce Raised Bed Farming to the man on the land with the design and manufacture of a range of broad acre bed formers.

Raised bed systems for growing crops in the high rainfall zones of Australia has enormous advantages and proven financial gains if extra time and care is put in to preparing the ground before seeding.  The benefits of raised beds include:

• Eliminates almost all water logging in a wet winter or spring

• Helps to eliminate compaction of the soil by controlling machinery traffic

• Creates a healthier and deeper seed bed which encourages improved root growth

• Retains more moisture in dry times

The WATSON Raised Bed Plough range includes linkage and trailing models with:

• Full width crumble rollers
• Hydraulic primary tyne assemblies with plastic lister boards for improved soil flow
• Registered design 'stone jump' furrower tynes
• Minimum soil build up
• Simple to set up and use
• Linkage models either single or three bed units
• Trailing models from three to five bed units

WATSON BED FORMERS FOR THE HORTICULTURAL INDUSTRY

WATSON FARM MACHINERY has been making bed formers for flower and vegetable growers for over 20 years.  Models range from rigid single row units to large multi row rigid or folding units fitted to your choice of rotary hoe or power harrow.

The bed former floats are manufactured out of 12 mm plate and incorporate the latest WATSON flow through design.  All units are fully welded (no stitch welds) and the floats and tailgates are covered to minimise soil collection.

Options include rear rollers, manual or hydraulic drive, manual or hydraulic adjustable tail gates, seed and fertiliser distribution boxes, front coulters and track eradicators.

Plastic mulch layers can be fitted to a bed former or custom made as a separate linkage unit.
